External services
This plugin utilizes a local MaxMind database for lightning-fast IP lookups. However, if the local database file is missing or corrupted, the plugin relies on a fallback connection to a free external geolocation API to ensure your site remains protected.
It sends the visitor’s IP address to this service only when the local database fails. This fallback service is provided by IP-API:
