Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records Tarkop DSGVO Cookie Shield version 1.1.1 as active, updated 1mo ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.

Overview

About this plugin

Tarkop DSGVO Cookie Shield is a specialized, lightweight consent tool for small businesses. It helps collect visitor preferences and block supported third-party services before consent.

What makes it different from generic cookie plugins:

  • Prior-consent blocking: Recognized Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, YouTube, Vimeo, and Google Fonts resources integrated through supported WordPress methods are made inactive before they reach the browser.
  • Multilingual interface: Bundled German, English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Italian translations follow the active WordPress locale in the dashboard and on the frontend.
  • Zero external dependencies: No jQuery, no external CDNs, no external fonts. The plugin itself adds zero third-party requests to your site.
  • Built for non-technical users: The main banner, design, page, and blocking options are available on one settings screen.

Key Features:

* Supported-service blocking: Automatically pauses recognized tracking scripts and video iframes until consent is granted.

* Consent controls: Category-based choices for necessary, statistics, marketing, and external media services.

* Lightweight & Fast: Vanilla JavaScript, no heavy frameworks.

* Theme friendly: Uses standard WordPress hooks, scoped CSS classes, and responsive styles.

* Customizable: Choose banner position (top/bottom), color themes (light/dark/neutral), and edit texts directly in the dashboard.

* Floating settings control: After a visitor saves a choice, a compact cookie icon remains available for reopening the consent settings.

* Shortcode Support: Use [tarkop_dsgvo_button] to add a “Cookie Settings” button anywhere in your footer or privacy policy.

* Optional developer link: Site owners may explicitly opt in to a small link to the plugin page inside the public settings dialog. It is disabled by default and never required for the plugin to work.

How it works:

1. The plugin recognizes supported scripts, stylesheets, and embedded media integrated through WordPress enqueue, inline-script, content, widget, or oEmbed filters.

2. Recognized resources are output without an executable or loadable source before consent.

3. Accepted script and stylesheet categories are restored. Embedded videos remain blocked until the visitor clicks the load button on that video.

4. The visitor’s choice is stored in a cookie for 180 days and can be changed through the settings button.

The plugin is a technical aid, not legal advice. Site owners should test their exact integrations and obtain professional advice where necessary.
