About this plugin
AI is an AI sales assistant that lives in a chat widget on your WooCommerce store. Customers describe what they’re looking for in plain language, and the chatbot searches your product catalog, shows interactive product cards, and helps them buy — without leaving the chat.
How it works
- A customer opens the chat and types what they need — in any language.
- Sell.AI searches your WooCommerce catalog using fast keyword-based search.
- The chatbot responds with a helpful answer and interactive product cards (image, price, stock, Add to Cart).
- The customer adds products to cart directly from the chat.

You pay OpenAI directly for API usage. A typical store with 50–100 daily chatbot conversations spends approximately $5–15/month.
Developers
The plugin has documented actions and filters, so a theme, a custom plugin or an add-on can extend the assistant. The optional ones are off by default and change nothing until code hooks into them. php.
Among them:
- sellai_system_prompt and sellai_system_prompt_sections — change the chat system prompt, as a whole or per named section (for example persona or industry ).
- sellai_product_card_limit — maximum number of product cards per answer.
- sellai_stage_detection_enabled (default false) — ask the model to tag each answer with the customer’s purchase stage (browsing, comparing, deciding, ready); the stage is stored on the conversation and passed to sellai_stage_detected.
- sellai_quick_replies_enabled (default false) and sellai_quick_replies — let the model offer tap-to-answer reply buttons, which the widget shows under the answer.
- sellai_attribution_window_days (default 7, 0 = off) and sellai_revenue_order_statuses — chat-assisted order attribution and which order statuses count as revenue.
- sellai_client_ip — the visitor IP used for rate limits (for sites behind a proxy).
- sellai_settings_tabs / sellai_settings_render_tab / sellai_sanitize_settings and sellai_data_tabs / sellai_data_render_tab — add your own tabs to the Settings and Analytics pages.

Third-Party Services
OpenAI API
Customer messages, relevant product data, the current cart contents and, for logged-in customers, short summaries of their earlier conversations are sent to the OpenAI API to generate AI-powered responses. This requires your own OpenAI API key. Data is transmitted only when a customer sends a message in the chat widget.
