Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records Nowix Site Connector version 0.3.1 as active, updated 23h ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.

Overview

About this plugin

Nowix Site Connector works with the external LinkHub service. Site owners register their own sites, verify domain ownership using DNS TXT records, review other sites and explicitly approve one-way or reciprocal recommendations. The connector retrieves the approved recommendation snapshots and renders ordinary HTML links in a page selected by the administrator.

The plugin does not insert links automatically across your site. Add the LinkHub recommendations block or the [linkhub_links] shortcode where the recommendations are relevant. All recommendation links omit the rel attribute.

There is no link-attribute setting. LinkHub does not promise crawling, indexing, traffic or search ranking improvements. Do not use it for excessive link exchanges or search ranking manipulation.

A LinkHub account, a public HTTPS WordPress site and access to its DNS settings are required. There is no payment or subscription requirement in this release. kr/linkhub/.

External service and consent

No external service request is made merely by activating the plugin. In Settings > LinkHub, the administrator supplies a hub URL and a one-time code, then chooses Connect. kr/linkhub):

  • Each request includes protocolVersion 2 to identify the supported synchronization format.
  • /api/plugin/pair receives the one-time code and the WordPress home URL to verify the connection. It returns a site-specific credential and the initial approved recommendations.
  • /api/plugin/sync receives the site credential in an Authorization header and the last recommendation revision actually rendered by the block or shortcode. This retrieves changes and reports rendering status. It runs on a five-minute WP-Cron schedule, or when the administrator chooses Sync.
  • /api/plugin/disconnect receives the site credential when the administrator chooses Disconnect, to revoke it and stop sharing the site’s connections.

The plugin sends no administrator password, WordPress session cookies, post content or visitor information. As with any HTTPS request, the receiving hub can see the WordPress server’s IP address. The separate hub account stores the operator’s email, profile, site descriptions and connection requests.

Credentials and the latest recommendation manifest are stored locally in WordPress options without autoloading.

If you use a different hub, review that operator’s policies before connecting.

Synchronization and caching

WP-Cron needs site visits to run. For reliable operation, arrange for WordPress cron to run on the server every five minutes. Recommendation data expires after one hour without a successful refresh.

Expired data is not rendered. Revocations apply on the next successful synchronization, or at expiry if the hub is unavailable.

Exclude recommendation pages from full-page caching, including CDN caches. Previously cached HTML served before WordPress runs is outside the plugin’s control. Rendering reports confirm that the block or shortcode ran; they are not independent public-page or search-engine checks.
