Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records Meser10 SMS for WooCommerce version 1.0.0 as active, updated 28d ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.

Overview

About this plugin

An order email can sit unread for a day. A text is read in minutes, which is why

” is the question shops answer most often.

This plugin sends an SMS through your Meser 10 account when an order reaches a

status you choose. You write the message for each status, and statuses you leave

empty send nothing.

What it does

  • One message template per WooCommerce order status, in your own words.
  • Placeholders for the order number, the customer’s name, the total, the item count, the status and a link to the order.
  • An optional alert to your own phone when a new order comes in.
  • A note on the order recording that the text went, and to which masked number.
  • A test send, so the credentials and the sender name can be proved before a customer is involved.
  • A log of recent messages, showing the outcome and never the message body.

Things it deliberately will not do

  • It never sends the same message twice for the same order and status, however many times WooCommerce fires the hook.
  • It never texts customers about orders placed before you first switched sending on, so turning it on does not reach a backlog.
  • It rejects a phone number it cannot read as a mobile rather than reshaping it into one that might belong to a stranger.

Before you start

You need a Meser 10 account with SMS enabled, and both the API key and the

numeric User ID from it. Sending needs both – the key on its own is not enough.

A sender name has to be approved on the Meser 10 side before it will show on the

handset instead of a number.

Messages are charged per segment by Meser 10. A message in Hebrew or with an

emoji fits 70 characters per segment rather than 160, so the settings screen

shows the segment count under every template you write.

Consent

Order status updates are usually treated as service messages rather than

marketing, but the rule differs by country. There is a setting that restricts

sending to customers who ticked a consent box at checkout, for shops whose rules

require it.

External services

This plugin sends text messages through the Meser10 platform, an email and SMS sending service. A request is made only when an order reaches a status you have written a message for, when the shop alert is switched on and a new order arrives, or when you press the test send button. What is sent is the recipient’s mobile number, the message text with its placeholders filled in from the order, the sender name, and your Meser10 API key and User ID for authentication.

org addresses in the code are XML namespace identifiers, not requests.
