Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records EdgeUpload – Direct Cloud Upload for Forms version 1.0.1 as active, updated 20d ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.

Overview

About this plugin

EdgeUpload turns supported WordPress form file fields into browser-to-cloud upload fields. Instead of pushing large file payloads through the WordPress server, EdgeUpload asks WordPress for a short-lived upload signature, sends the file directly from the visitor’s browser to your object storage bucket, and passes the final cloud URL along with the form submission.

This keeps your forms familiar while moving file traffic away from PHP upload limits, server disk storage, and oversized form requests.

The free version includes Amazon S3 support. EdgeUpload Pro adds more storage providers, CDN URL rewriting, and advanced upload controls for production workflows.

Why use direct cloud uploads?

  • Reduce file upload load on your WordPress hosting.
  • Keep submitted files in your own cloud storage bucket.
  • Avoid storing temporary form uploads on the WordPress server.
  • Submit cloud file URLs with form entries instead of bulky local uploads.
  • Use one upload workflow across popular WordPress form plugins.

Important setup note

EdgeUpload requires a correctly configured cloud storage bucket. Your bucket must allow browser uploads from your WordPress site origin, and submitted file URLs must be readable by the people who need to access them. The plugin includes connection and CORS tests to help verify your configuration.

External services

EdgeUpload connects to the object storage service that you configure. No data is sent anywhere until you enter your own bucket credentials and a visitor uploads a file through a supported form.

Amazon S3 (free version)

  • What it is used for: storing the files that visitors upload through your forms.
  • What data is sent: the file itself is sent from the visitor’s browser directly to your S3 bucket using a short-lived signed URL generated by your WordPress site. The connection test in the admin area sends a small test object to your bucket.
  • When: when a visitor uploads a file in a supported form, and when an administrator runs the connection or CORS test.
  • Service provider: Amazon Web Services, Inc. Terms of Service | Privacy Notice

EdgeUpload Pro additionally supports Tencent Cloud COS, Alibaba Cloud OSS, Microsoft Azure Blob Storage and Google Cloud Storage. They work the same way and are only contacted if you select them.

Freemius

This plugin uses the Freemius SDK for licensing, optional opt-in usage data and updates. Data is only collected after you opt in. See the Freemius Privacy Policy.
