Lightweight post view counting for WordPress posts using a custom database table and client-side cache-friendly REST counting.
Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. WP PlugIndex currently records DD Post Views version 2.9.2 as active, updated 1mo ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.
DD Post Views counts published post views for guests while preserving compatibility with full-page cache systems. It stores counts in the existing dd_post_views table, uses localStorage for a lightweight visitor cooldown, and avoids per-visitor transient records.
Logged-in users are not counted. A simple User-Agent bot filter is used for noise reduction. The plugin does not use external services and does not send view data to third parties.
Marked as tested with the current WordPress 7.1 release.
“Tested up to” is directory metadata supplied by the plugin author. WP PlugIndex does not turn an older declaration into a claim that the plugin is incompatible.
WP PlugIndex tracks public WordPress.org directory metadata and records selected version, compatibility and availability changes as they are detected.
