Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records byfaro – AI Search & AI Agent Optimization version 1.0.0 as active, updated 10h ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.

Overview

About this plugin

ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini now read websites for people. Browser agents also search, compare and book. byfaro checks your site from outside, the way they see it, and tells you what stops them finding your business, reading your pages or acting on them.

Whatever it can fix, it fixes in one click. You see each change first, byfaro checks that it worked, and you can undo it.

txt. byfaro runs a full readiness check first (54 checks across 7 categories), then adds a file or tag only where your site needs it.

What you get

  • Your AI agent readiness score. A score from 0 to 100 in your WordPress admin, based on 54 checks across 7 categories, with a list of what to fix next.
  • Pages agents can read. Plain-text and Markdown versions of your pages for AI tools that ask for them, and a knowledge bundle (a plain summary of who you are and what each page covers). Each is a fix you turn on, with Undo.
  • Rules and details for agents. A Content-Signal header that says how AI may use your content, and your business details as structured data agents can read. You also get ready-made code for your prices, which you add yourself.
  • A search tool for browser agents. A ready-made WebMCP tool you can add to your homepage, so agents can search your site instead of guessing where to click.
  • One-click site claim. Connecting claims your site on the byfaro registry, a public directory of businesses scored for AI visibility, and lists you as its verified owner.
  • Lumens. byfaro’s reward currency. Claiming your site, keeping the badge live and real improvements to your score all earn Lumens. 1,500 buys a free month of byfaro Pro.
  • AI-Ready badge. Once your score reaches 55, you can show the badge on your site. It stays off until you turn it on. Pick your badge (score or specialist), its shape and a dark, light or transparent background, then copy the shortcode [byfaro_badge] and paste it where you want the badge. byfaro works out where your footer is edited, opens that screen and tells you what to do there, then confirms when the badge is live. It adds only the badge and its link.
  • llms.txt. A summary of your site for AI, built from your pages. Turn it on in Site settings or from the Issues screen. byfaro skips this if you already have one.
  • AI crawler switches. Allow or block individual AI crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and more) in your robots.txt. Everything is allowed unless you change it, and the plugin warns you that blocking lowers your score.
  • AI visitor log. See which AI crawlers read your site. The log stays on your site, holds no IP addresses and is kept for 90 days.
  • Steps to fix every issue yourself. Plain steps for each thing the scan finds, and who can do it (byfaro, you, your developer or your host). The Take me there button opens the right WordPress screen with the steps waiting. When a job needs someone else, byfaro gives you a message to send them. The steps are written for the WordPress editor and Elementor. Other page builders get general steps.
  • byfaro helper (Pro). A chat on that same screen that answers your questions as you go and offers byfaro’s own fix where there is one.
  • One-click fixes by byfaro, with Undo. byfaro shows exactly what a fix will change before anything happens. It then applies the fix, checks your live site from outside to confirm it worked, and keeps every change in a history you can undo. Fixes include letting AI crawlers in (only when WordPress itself blocks them), adding your sitemap to robots.txt, llms.txt and the header that points to it, a Content-Signal header, your business details (Organization schema, skipped when Yoast, Rank Math or All in One SEO already add it), social sharing details, plain-text versions of your pages for AI, and links to your pricing, about and contact pages.

Plans

Your plan belongs to your byfaro account, and byfaro’s servers decide what it includes. There is no separate plugin licence and nothing extra to install. Upgrading works here straight away.

  • Free: your score and every issue, every one-click fix byfaro can make, a step-by-step guide for every issue, scans whenever you like (once a day if your host blocks scans from inside WordPress), and Undo and history for every fix you make.
  • Pro ($9 a month): everything in Free, plus the interactive byfaro helper, which walks you through each fix and can make it for you. Scans have no limit, and byfaro checks your site automatically every week. You get an email after that check if your score drops, an AI tool can’t read your site any more, or a fix stops working. Coming soon: byfaro applying new fixes for you if you turn it on.
  • Agency ($49 a month): everything in Pro, weekly checks on up to 25 websites, client reports, and tracking of when AI assistants mention you, on byfaro.ai.

See byfaro pricing for the current plans.

External services

ai ), operated by Kadima Digital. Nothing is sent until you click “Connect to byfaro”.

After connecting:

  • Your site’s address, WordPress version and plugin version are sent to create the connection.
  • A scan runs when you click Scan now, weekly on Pro and Agency, or, at most once a day, when byfaro.ai asks for one because the score it shows for your site is more than a week old. byfaro sends your site a list of public addresses on your own site (such as /robots.txt, /llms.txt, /pricing). Your site asks itself for them and sends byfaro what it answered for each: the status code, the page or file, a few response headers (content type, Content-Signal, Link, server, Cloudflare markers) and where any redirect ended. Your site never asks itself for admin, login or server pages, hidden files or backups. byfaro checks those from outside, as any visitor would. byfaro’s servers also fetch your homepage, robots.txt and anything that counts in your favour themselves, to confirm it. The result is stored in your byfaro account. Scanned sites may be listed publicly on the byfaro registry with their score. If your site can’t ask itself, byfaro’s servers scan it from outside instead, except for a scan byfaro.ai asked for, which then doesn’t run.
  • The plugin periodically fetches your score, plan and Lumens balance from byfaro.ai.
  • If you turn the byfaro badge on, your visitors’ browsers load the badge image from byfaro.ai, and the badge links to your site’s public byfaro listing. It is off until you turn it on.
  • When you save a fix, or save your homepage, header, footer, menu or pricing, contact, about, privacy or terms page, the plugin sends byfaro.ai what your site serves at your homepage, robots.txt and that page (the same public pages byfaro scans), so byfaro can confirm the fix and update your score. byfaro then checks the same pages itself from outside.
  • If you use the byfaro helper (Pro), each question you type is sent to byfaro.ai. With it go the conversation so far, the name of the issue and what byfaro found for it, the WordPress screen you are on, your site’s name, tagline, homepage title and up to 2,000 characters of your homepage’s visible text, and a few facts about your site (WordPress version, theme, which SEO or page builder plugin is active, your link and search engine settings). byfaro answers using Anthropic’s Claude ( Anthropic privacy policy ). The conversation is kept in your browser, not stored by byfaro. byfaro counts only how many questions were asked, per site per day.
  • When you answer the “Your business” questions, your answers (Yes, Not yet or No), any reason you type and what byfaro found on your site for each are sent to byfaro.ai, so your score leaves out checks that don’t apply to you.
  • When you turn the Pro email alerts on or off, that choice is sent to byfaro.ai.
  • Connecting lists your site and its score on the public byfaro registry, with you as its verified owner.
  • When you disconnect or delete the plugin, it tells byfaro.ai to revoke this site’s key.
  • When you apply or undo a fix, byfaro checks your site’s public pages again from outside to confirm the change is live, and a one-line record of the change (which fix, when, and whether it was confirmed) is saved to your byfaro account. The settings themselves stay on your site.

No visitor data, user accounts or IP addresses from your site are ever sent to byfaro. byfaro does read what your public pages show, so an email address published on one of those pages is included. The AI visitor log stays in your site’s own database.
