Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records Atsens AI Agents Traffic Analytics version 0.1.0 as active, updated 1mo ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.

Overview

About this plugin

Atsens AI Agents Traffic Analytics is a measurement plugin. It records how AI agents already interact with your WooCommerce store and tells you where you stand — it does not feed your catalog to chatbots, does not run a checkout, and does not talk to any external server.

What it measures

  • AI bot crawls — recognizes known AI crawlers (GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, PerplexityBot, Perplexity-User, ClaudeBot, Claude-User, CCBot, Bytespider, Google-Extended, Amazonbot and others), classifies each visit as search/citation, on-request fetch, or training crawl, and logs which pages and product categories they hit.
  • Chat-platform referrals — visits arriving from chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, gemini.google.com, copilot.microsoft.com, claude.ai, grok.com, poe.com, you.com and deepseek.com are recorded (by referer or utm_source) and kept in a first-party cookie.
  • Order attribution — when a referred visitor places an order, the order is stamped with the chat source and visit date. Works with both classic post storage and HPOS (High-Performance Order Storage). The orders list shows an “Agent source” column.
  • 30-day dashboard — a plain, JavaScript-free overview: top bots by category, top crawled URLs, referral counts per platform, and attributed orders.

What it audits

txt. Each check can produce a concrete fix item. The result is cached for 24 hours and can be re-run from the admin.

What it probes

The Niche Probe page (“test yourself in ChatGPT”) generates a few shopper-style prompts from your own store data (top categories and best sellers) and sends them to the AI provider of your choice — using your own OpenAI or Perplexity API key. It reports whether the answer mentions your store or your products, and keeps the last 20 results so you can watch progress. The probe only runs when you click “Run probe”.

Privacy: local by design

  • All data stays in your own WordPress database. There is no cloud, no account, no telemetry, no phone-home.
  • No IP addresses are stored — not even hashed ones you could reverse; the anti-duplicate key is a salted hash of the IP with a per-install random salt, and the raw IP is never written.
  • The only cookie is a first-party atsen_ref cookie (chat source + visit date, 30 days) — no personal identifiers.
  • Tracking skips logged-in users, admin pages, AJAX, REST and prefetch requests.
  • The Readiness audit fetches only your own site; the Probe talks only to the AI provider you configure with your own key.
  • Uninstalling removes the tables, options, cookie data and cron event completely.

Requirements

0+ site. 0+ recommended, HPOS supported). No JavaScript is added to your storefront; there are no external requests at page-view time.

External services

This plugin contacts two third-party AI services, and only when you explicitly ask it to. The optional “Niche Probe” feature (“test yourself in ChatGPT”) sends a few shopper-style prompts to the AI provider you choose, using your own API key, and reports whether the answer mentions your store or products. Nothing is sent on page views, no visitor or customer data is involved, and the probe never runs by itself.

  • OpenAI API — https://api.openai.com/v1/chat/completions
  • What it is used for: the “Niche Probe” admin page (provider “OpenAI (ChatGPT)”) runs your generated shopper-style prompts through the OpenAI chat API and shows you the answers.
  • What data is sent, and when: only the prompt text — generated locally from your own store data (top product categories and best-selling product names) — is sent, and only when you click the “Run probe” button. No customer, order, or visitor data is sent, and no IP addresses are shared.
  • Under which conditions: the request happens only after you save your own OpenAI API key in the Probe settings and explicitly press “Run probe”. The key is stored as an option on your own server and is sent only to OpenAI.
  • Terms of use: https://openai.com/policies/terms-of-use
  • Privacy policy: https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy
  • Perplexity API — https://api.perplexity.ai/chat/completions
  • What it is used for: the same “Niche Probe” admin page (provider “Perplexity”) runs your generated prompts through the Perplexity chat API instead, if you select Perplexity as the provider.
  • What data is sent, and when: identical to OpenAI — only the locally generated prompt text, only on your explicit “Run probe” click. No customer, order, or visitor data.
  • Under which conditions: only after you save your own Perplexity API key in the Probe settings and press “Run probe”. The key is stored on your own server and sent only to Perplexity.
  • Terms of use: https://www.perplexity.ai/hub/legal/perplexity-api-terms-of-service
  • Privacy policy: https://www.perplexity.ai/hub/legal/privacy-policy

Everything else in the plugin — bot crawl tracking, referral tracking, the Readiness audit, the dashboard — runs entirely on your own server and contacts no external service (the Readiness audit fetches only your own site’s public pages).
